Things Have Been Very Different...

Things have been very different lately. Life has been just a little hectic and unsettled. My sweet husband has had "plumbing" problems with the arteries that feed his heart for almost 20 years now. And things have finally come to a point where it was recommended that he have heart bypass surgery done.

His surgery was Thursday, and today is Monday. Well, what a terrible ordeal. It's not something one would do if they didn't have to. (Which tells me that I really don't need the stomach bypass done!) After surgery, he went intoICU for a couple of days, but now he's in the Cardiac Care Unit. Everyone on this floor is having some kind of trouble with their ticker or their plumbing. Scary.

The good news is he's mending. It's a slow process, but he's on his way. But, the effect this has had on me has been tremendous. I haven't had the same routine and probably won't for quite a while. My blogging has had to take a back seat, and I only get a few minutes to Twitter. I do check my email morning and night. But that's about 1/6th of what I used to do.

And I wouldn't change a thing. I'd rather be in the hospital, sitting with him and helping him anyway I can, than working up leads, or out with a client! I miss him and am ready for him to come home!

How about you? Have you undergone a life altering event? What do you do when life takes another path?

Marianne, I wish you and your husband the best.  When my father became very ill I took off an incredible amount of time from work.  I needed to be with him, my income suffered.  But I can always make more money.  Can't get any more time with Dad!

April: Thank you, you're right! He will recover and be better for it, but right now it doesn't feel so good. I hope your Dad made a full recovery.

Marianne, I am glad he is recovering and has you to stay by him!

My Father had colo-rectal cancer.  He fought for a year - and finally lost his battle when the cancer attacked his brain.  I am still thankful that we had that final year - and we were able to spend some quality time together.  I will never second guess the amount of time and money spent to be able to spend additional time with him.  When he was diagnosed and operated on my sisters and I went to him in Florida.  I was there during a hurricane and refused to leave his side while he was in intensive care.  That was quite an experience.  The area was evacuated and the National Guard closed down the hospital to protect it.  Only those that have to remain there do so. About 2 weeks later we moved him "back home" up north to care for him over the next year.  I feel blessed that he had the year up here with us before he passed.  It was nicer to see him in person rather than being a "phone call away" while he was going thru his fight.

April: He was very fortunate to have such a wonderful daughter. And thank you for all your concern!

Neal: Thank you for the welcome. I'm enjoying blogging and am finding that my emails to people are becoming much, much longer...I feel bad for them, but I'm just too much into stream of consciousness.

Patricia: Thanks for stopping by my blog today! I return the favor! Charlie is doing pretty good. It's a slow recovery, but he's coming along well. Thanks for asking.

Update: Charlie's doing just fine. He expects to be even better than before the surgery! I'm very happy for him, he's traveled a long road.
